An electro-permanent magnetic chuck holds and releases workpieces through the combined action of permanent magnetic materials and electromagnetic coils.
Its working principle is as follows: in the magnetized state, the electromagnetic coil is energized to generate a magnetic field, which superposes with the magnetic field of the permanent magnetic material to produce strong magnetic force for holding the workpiece. When the workpiece needs to be released, the coil is energized in reverse direction to counteract the magnetic field of the permanent magnet. The magnetic force disappears, and the workpiece can be removed.

Electro-permanent magnetic chucks come with many advantages. Firstly, they feature strong and stable magnetic force to securely hold workpieces of various shapes and materials. Secondly, they deliver remarkable energy-saving performance, since no continuous power supply is required to maintain magnetic force after magnetization. Thirdly, they offer high safety, and workpieces will not fall even in case of sudden power failure.
Besides, they have a long service life and relatively low maintenance costs. The high-precision positioning capability of electro-permanent magnetic chucks can meet production requirements demanding high machining accuracy.
