Electromagnetic chucks for grinding machines may suffer from various faults during operation. A common issue is insufficient magnetic holding force, which can be caused by partial short circuit of the chuck coil, low supply voltage, or foreign matter on the chuck surface. The solutions include inspecting the coil, adjusting the power voltage and cleaning the chuck surface.

Another frequent fault is excessive heating of the chuck, generally resulting from prolonged continuous operation, internal short circuit or poor ventilation. It is necessary to arrange working hours reasonably, inspect internal circuits and improve ventilation.
Uneven magnetic force may also occur, which can stem from poor chuck quality or improper installation. In such cases, replace the chuck or reinstall it correctly.
Besides, sudden loss of magnetic force may be caused by control circuit failure or power interruption. The control circuit and power wiring should be inspected and repaired.
